Introducing Tari, a calm way to track your money
Tari puts your income and expenses on a calendar, so you can see where the money went, day by day. Here is why we built it and what it does.
Most money apps start with a monthly total. Ours starts with a calendar.
Tari is a personal finance tracker we designed, built and run here at Kitendo. It is live on Google Play and on the web, and it does one job well: it shows you where your money went, day by day, so surprises show up while you can still do something about them.
Why we built it
We kept seeing the same pattern, in our own lives and around us. A month can look fine on paper while three expensive days quietly empty the account. Taxi fares, a market run, a contribution at church, a mobile money transfer: small amounts that vanish from memory by the weekend.
Spreadsheets did not help. They are good for summaries, but they ask you to sit down and reconstruct the week. Most people stop after two weeks. We wanted something lighter: log a payment in seconds, on the day it happens, and read the month at a glance.
What Tari does
- Your month on a calendar. Each day shows what came in and what went out. Tap any day to see exactly where the money went.
- Income, expenses and net at a glance. The month’s totals sit at the top, so you always know where you stand.
- Quick logging. Add an income or an expense in a few taps, with an optional note.
- Your own categories. Start with a few that fit your life (food, transport, home) and add more when you need them.
- Phone and web, in sync. Log on your phone during the day, review on a bigger screen in the evening. Your data follows you.
- English and French. Tari speaks both, from the first screen.
Calm by design
Personal finance tools often push complexity: envelopes, forecasts, investment dashboards. Those are useful for some goals, but noisy when the real question is “did this week make sense?” Tari stays out of the way. No clutter, just your days and your numbers.
Built and run by Kitendo
Tari is not a client project. It is one of our own products, and we run it every day: the app on Android, the web app, and the backend that keeps them in sync. Building it end to end, from the first screen to store review, is how we learn what our clients’ products will need too.
We keep improving it with feedback from the people who use it.
